Alfred Russel Wallace

Alfred Russel Wallace is best known as the english naturalish who independently proposed natural selection as a procces to explain the origin of species.He meet Henry Walter Bates,an entomologist,and they went on a collecting trip to the amazon.Wallace's knowledge of world's extensive flora and fauna was much expanded by a tour he made of the Malay Archipelago from 1854-1862.After studying the animals of every important island,he divided the island into a western group,with animals like those of the Orient,and an eastern group,with animals like those of Australia.The dividing line between the island of the archipelago is a narrow but deep strait that is now known as the Wallace Line.
